CLINTONVILLE, WI – The Clintonville School Board put a plan in place that would have allow for a return of some face-to-face learning for all grade levels starting November 30.
“So after Thanksgiving, the district will all be back to some face-face-learning with the Elementary School being four days a week and the Middle and High School going back to the A/B schedule, or two days a week, that they started the school year with”, said Dr. David Dyb, Superintendent of the Clintonville School District.
The decision was made after three different motions were brought to the table.
The two other motions that were made included staying virtual but allowing select students to be invited back in for instruction, including those who need special services. The other motion would have allowed for students who have not been successful this school year, to come in for in-person learning while the district stays virtual, but those both failed in votes taken by the board.
The other decision that the board made was to allow for virtual learning for classrooms where the teacher could not be in school.
“So instead of knocking out the entire school, the board gave permission for us to take individual classrooms and make just that group virtual.”
Dyb says the learning in that situation would look similar to what the virtual learning has been.
“There will be asynchronous and synchronous learning.”
Through this changing process, Dyb says he has been highly impressed with the efforts that staff are making to keep education going.
“They have all risen to the occasion and they are troopers and we continue to move forward working through our staffing challenges are we are doing our best to maintain in person instruction.”
The Clintonville School Board will look at the COVID-19 numbers and situation one last time before giving the all clear to return grades 5-12 in person after Thanksgiving.
