
Marion J. Beyer, age 92 of Shawano, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, October 7, 2020.
Marion was born May 1, 1928 in Dale, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late George and Lillian (Camfield) Lapp. She often told people she came over on the Mayflower! She attended and graduated from Washington High School in New London with the Class of 1946. On September 24, 1955, Marion was united in marriage to Wallace L. Beyer in Dale, Wisconsin.
Marion is a current member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Shawano. Previously, she had been a member of St. James Lutheran Church and the Ladies Aid. She worked at Helwig Carbon Products and Birch Hill Nursing Home. Marion was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as the president and secretary, and held other offices. She belonged to AARP Chapter 186 and the Red Hats of Shawano, and volunteered with the St. James Hot Lunch Program and the Shawano Office on Aging. Marion enjoyed fishing, playing cards, loved playing bingo at the Shawano Senior Center, and listening to the Gary Kuchenbecker radio program.
Survivors include her children, Darlene (David) Rogers of New Mexico, and their children Samuel (Sarah) Rogers and Daniel (special friend Stacey) Rogers; Duane (Rose) Beyer of Shawano, and their children, Jennifer (Mark) Podevels, and Jared (Jenni) Beyer; Dawn (Gary) DeYoung of Shawano and their children, Michael (Stacey) Homan, Melissa (special friend, Jeremiah) Homan, and Matthew (special friend, Katlynn) Homan; and Karen (Richard) Bohl of Bloomer, and their children, Deanna (John) Caterer and Dawn (Aaron) Wright; ten great-grandchildren, Colton and Emma Podevels, Weston, Alice, and Aubrey Beyer, Kasen and Everly Homan, Katlyn and Amber Caterer, and Noah Burton (Wright); several children who called her “Grandma Marion” whom she babysat or served hot lunch to; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace, on December 31, 1995; her brothers and sisters; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
A funeral service for Marion will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Steve Conradt will officiate. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM at the funeral home and continue until the time of service. In lieu of flowers and plants, the family prefers memorials in Marion’s name to the St. James Radio Broadcast or Heartland Hospice of DePere, Wisconsin.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the family requests masks be worn while in attendance, and social distancing be followed for safety precautions. If you would like to remember Marion, please say a prayer or play a game of solitaire in her memory.
