FREMONT, WI – Water enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer to swim at Partridge Lake Beach. Village officials have decided to keep the beach closed until at least mid-July.
Village officials say they need time to look into some of the concerns that local residents have. Some of the concerns that have been brought to the Village’s attention are parking, the use of alcohol, capacity and vandalism.
The Village will also need to decide if a permit will be required or if beach users can be given permission to use the beach with a wristband.
The next committee meeting will be on June 29. The committee is expected to bring the Village Board a recommendation on how to proceed for the July 14 meeting.
The Village has been dealing with bathroom vandalism, littering and capacity issues. Residents indicated at the meeting that banning alcohol would likely solve the capacity issues, which the board is expected to look into. They also told the committee that it is concerning that many of the users are from out of the area. The board is expected to look into what it would take to have supervision at the beach.
The beach was closed on June 3rd.
