MARION, WI- Friday is the reopening of Pigeon River Brewery in Marion.
Owner Kayla Knaack says they were open just three days a week prior to the Supreme Court’s decision, but now they are going back to regular hours.
With that, Knaack says they have taken many safety measures to get ready for their customers.
“We are choosing to take our own safety measures,” owner Kayla Knaack said. “We want to be responsible about it.”
Some of that has to do with spacing.
“We are encouraging outdoor seating as much as possible by putting more tables outside and allowing people to tailgate out in the parking lot if they want to.”
She says they are also planning on opening windows, using disposibale menus and continuing to keep up on cleaning and disinfecting.
“We are spacing out the tables and we are leaving one section more open for people so they don’t have to congregate by the bar.”
Customers are being asked to follow any signs that are up and waiting to be served at the table rather than coming up to the bar.
“We will take money at the tables and we want to limit interaction between parties as much as possible.”
Knaack says when the news broke they had to furlough their staff, but they are starting the process of bringing people back. She says they will be able to provide mostly everything the same way they did prior to the closing.
“We have had some disruptions in our food chain, but for the most part, our menu is going to be the same and it will be the same quality. We had reconfigued our taproom and have been working on our inventory.”
Knaack says they are also asking their customers to be as safe as possible.
“It is not like we can ask our customers to wear a mask here, they are eating and drinking,” Knaack joked.
The brewery is also trying to go back into a consistent production schedule.
“It was a struggle trying to plan out our production schedule not knowing what to expect and now we are going to have to ramp up production again because we are running out of inventory.
Knaack says that is good problem to have.
“We are trying as best as we can to keep our families, staff and customers safe and healthy and we will be keeping an eye on regulations as they change.”
