SHAWANO, WI – A not-guilty plea was entered by a Hortonville man accused of attempted homicide after allegedly slitting the throat of a woman while the two were in a vehicle along with a young child.
31-year-old Jeremy Rudie is also facing Strangulation and Suffocation, Battery and Domestic Abuse and Felony Intimidation of a Victim charges. He previously had a $125,000 cash bond set.
The woman and the young child were both rescued by a passerby and taken to safety.
According to police records, Rudie and another woman began to argue in the vehicle when he allegedly reached for a utility knife and slit her throat.
Police were called out to Highway 45 between Tigerton and Wittenberg after the vehicle was pulled over to the side of the road.
Police say a cell phone and a knife were found in a field.
Deptuies say Rudie confessed to slashing the woman’s throat and said she was his girlfriend.
The police report indicated that Rudie’s demeanor was friendly and he was laughing while being taken into custody.
Rudie told police that the two were arguing and she was driving him home to Hortonville. She eventually pulled over as the fight intensified.
Rudie told police that he used the knife from a tool box to stop her from calling police.
According to the report, the woman was able to get up and flagged down another vehicle. That person took her and her daughter to safety.
