Delores Ann Edgeton, age 85 of Shawano, started her journey to the Spirit World on Monday afternoon, May 4, 2020 at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.
Delores was born December 26, 1934 in Keshena, a daughter of the late Mitchell and Mary (Beauprey) Maskewit. She attended St. Joseph grade school followed by Shawano High School. Throughout her career, Delores was employed at various nursing homes and hospitals. She spent many years in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with Dale Edgeton. On September 10, 1995, they were united in marriage in Keshena. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Shawano. Dale preceded her in death on July 18, 2009.
Delores was a proud member of the Menominee Nation, and enjoyed dancing at many Pow-Wows. She is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shawano. She and Dale enjoyed traveling the country on their motorcycle. Although Delores didn’t have children of her own, she was the fun Auntie who was there for her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews whenever they needed anything. She was a special woman of small stature, but she was large in spirit with a feisty streak.
Survivors include her brother, Carl “Chummy” Maskewit of Keshena; her sister, Kathleen Sammons, of Albany, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and special friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Mitchell “Chappie” Maskewit and Donald “Buddy” Maskewit; and her sisters, Dorothy Martin, Elizabeth Gonzales, and Laura Maskewit.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the family will be remembering Delores privately at this time. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
“Special thanks to ThedaCare at Home Hospice and Mickelson Funeral Home for their assistance during this difficult time.”
