SHAWANO, WI- Monday kicked off curbside pickup at the Shawano County Libraries.
All six location in the Shawano County Library System will be able to help patrons take home books, audiobooks, music CD’s and movies.
“We are so excited to be able to offer this to patrons.”\
Kristie Hauer, Library Director says the process is done through ordering, which the patrons can do through email or over the phone.
“They can give us some suggestion of content areas that they would like to have and library staff will collect those materials,” Hauer said. “We will schedule a pickup time and at that time, the materials will be set outside the library door for the patron.”
She said patrons can give direct titles or themes that can be picked out by staff. She says if patrons are given something they don’t like, they can return it to the dropbox.
The materials will be checked out in the patron’s account and everything is done with social distancing.
“It will be no contact so patrons and staff will not be near each other.”
Hauer says the only limitation is the service that transfers materials between libraries which is temporarily not running. She says that means that patrons will need to contact and pickup from specific libraries.
