CLINTONVILLE, WI – A gas leak Friday closed down a portion of Highway 45 near Clintonville in Waupaca County.
Bear Creek Fire Chief Pat Norder says it happened after a mistake was make while crews were doing ditch work.
“They hit a natural gas line,” Norder said. It was only shut down for about a half-mile.”
He says once crews stopped the leak, the danger was over.
The portion of road was closed for about 2 hours between and a detour was put in place.
Norder said that crews were working outside which meant there was not a big concern for COVID-19 exposure.
