SHAWANO, WI – The City of Shawano is ready to welcome voters. An outdoor election booth was put in place under a tent in the City Hall parking lot for Tuesday’s election after it was determined Monday afternoon that the election will go on as planned.
Here is the MUST know when it comes to Election Day this time around.
1. Both in-person and absentee ballots were being accepted on Tuesday.
2. Absentee voters won’t get any extra time to submit their ballots. The U-S Supreme Court has blocked a plan to extend the deadline for turning
those ballots in. It had been tentatively extended to April 13th in reaction to the Coronavirus pandemic. Instead, today is the deadline.
3. Absentee ballots that have not been turned in either need to be postmarked by Tuesday, April 7 or turned into the voting municipality in person
by 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 7.
4. Any absentee ballots that were handed in or postmarked by April 7, 2020, will be counted in the election tally.
5. While voting is going on Tuesday, the results will not be released until Monday.
