A 30-year-old Weyauwega man has drowned after attempting to save a dog that fell through the ice in a pond.
Waupaca County Sheriff officials say the dog was able to get out of the water, but the man needed to be rescued and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The call to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department came in around 3:52 p.m on Wednesday.
The incident took place on private property.
Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Gold Cross Ambulance Service.
Weyauwega Fire Department personnel were the ones who got the man out of water.
