SHAWANO, WI – Two Shawano schools were put on a Building Notice after a suspect fled on foot after a high-speed chase in the city. Hillcrest Primary School and Olga Brener School were notified around 11:00 AM Wednesday.
The District notified parents with an email and phonecall around 3:00 pm.
“Today, March 4, around 11:00 AM, we were notified by a Shawano County Sheriff’s Deputy that they had a high-speed chase in our area. The individual was able to flee the vehicle on foot. As a precaution, we went into a Building Notice until we had further information. A Building Notice means that we keep all students and staff within the school and monitor any visitors who enter our building. Approximately an hour later, we received communication from law enforcement that we were able to come out of Building Notice and function as normal. At no time was there a specific threat toward our students, staff, or school.”
