
LAKE WINNEBAGO- The 16-day Sturgeon Spearing season wraps up on Sunday.
The final weekend started successfully with 50 harvests reported on Friday.
One sturgeon weighing more than 100 pounds was among the 50 speared Friday on the Winnebago System.
36 of those were speared on Lake Winnebago, and the remaining 14 were taken on upriver lakes Butte des Morts, Winneconne and Poygan.
The day’s largest sturgeon measured 75.5 inches and weighed 109 pounds.
Lake Winnebago had its most successful day of the season on Saturday with 48 reported for the daily harvest count.
A total of 68 fish here speared Satuday.
The big catch was 107.9 pounds, 73.8 inches.The total through 15 days is 431 fish on Lake Winnebago and 311 fish on the Upriver Lakes.
