SHAWANO, WI – When you think of a house divided, you usually think Packer vs Bears or Packer vs Viking fans, but Sunday was a chance for ultimate bragging rights in the Easter household as Jeff and Cindy Easter’s favorite teams battled for the rights to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Shawano School District Building and Grounds Director Jeff Easter is a life-long 49er fan.
“I grew up in Northern California watching Joe Montana and Jerry Rice and all of those great players that played for San Francisco all those years, and I lived in California that whole time so that is the team that I rooted for so I have been a life-long fan.”
His wife Cindy, is all about the Pack.
Jeff says most of family spent Sunday rooting for the Packers, but he does have his daughter Maddie on his side.
“I think it is out of pity, so I think she just wants to help her dad out, but I do have one family member on my side.”
The Easters have what you would call a “friendly” rivalry.
“There are no hurt feelings or anything like that. We just enjoy the game and wear our colors and cheer for our team,” Easter said. “I do enjoy watching the Packers and I do kind of feel a small connection to Aaron Rodgers since he grew up about 50 miles apart from where I did.”
The house divided extends a little further than just the walls of the Easter family home.
“I have a sister from California that is a Packer fan so the division goes beyond our household too.”
Jeff’s co-workers at the Shawano District Office also made sure he felt welcome to come to work on Friday by decorating his office in Green and Gold.
He says it was payback for November when he decorated the district office in San Francisco colors.
