GREEN BAY, WI – Two residents of the Menominee Indian Reservation were sentenced to federal prison for crimes committed while attempting to hid a firearm from authorities.
27-year-old Aaron Smith was carrying a handgun when he was arrested for a warrant. Smith passed the weapon to 26-year-old Keanna King so she could hide it in her vehicle. King later confessed to police, but told a federal grand jury that she never had the gun.
Court records show that Smith called her from jail and asked her to charge her story, which she did, providing false testimony. She was sentenced to eight months and supervised release for perjury.
Smith was sentenced to four years in prison and supervised release for being in possession of a firearm as a felon and Tampering with a Witness.
