The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources won’t take over the job of tracking the extent of pollution from a plant which makes firefighting foam. Johnson Controls International wanted the state agency to take over the job. Its Tyco Fire Products has been testing the foam in the Marinette area for decades. Johnson Controls says the state is better able to get permission from landowners and government agencies to go on their land for testing. The D-N-R is rejecting the suggestion it should assume the task.
