Wisconsin Health Department officials say food pantries in the state have taken in twice as much food from a federal distribution program. The ongoing U-S-China trade war is hurting farmers, but it is helping organizations which provide surplus crops for low-income families. The Emergency Food Assistance Program in Wisconsin has accepted almost 25-million pounds of food. One Madison office is dealing with space constraints as it tries to store the food it is receiving. Eighteen Wisconsin agencies are helping about 76-thousand households in the state every month.
