Work will resume in Spring 2020
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is postponing remaining work on the current WIS 22 project in Shawano until spring 2020 due to record rainfall and cold weather throughout the 2019 construction season. Remaining work includes asphalt paving, shoulder work and final pavement marking between Airport Road and County BE. Once favorable weather conditions are met in the spring, work is anticipated to take two and a half weeks to complete.
The Department acknowledges the deteriorated condition of the roadway between Airport Road and County BE and will continue to monitor and maintain this segment throughout the winter. The Department’s decision to postpone the project will ensure the quality and longevity of the asphalt overlay in this area while keeping overall project costs in mind.
Short-term lanes closures on WIS 22 between Airport Road and County BE may occur during the week of November 11, 2019 for touch-up work before removing all traffic control for the 2019 season.
