A judge has ordered a $25,000 cash bond for a Shawano area man accused of tying an 8 year old in a straight jack and confining him to the basement. 36 year old Nathan Pogrant faces multiple felony charges along with Possession of THC and Bail Jumping. The Shawano County Sheriff’s office received a call October 5th of a boy walking along highway 45. A passerby assisted the 8 year old, giving him food and alerting the sheriff’s office. The boy originally told deputies that he had been dropped off there, but then changed his story saying he ran away after being forced to sleep tied up in a dark basement the previous 2 nights, A search of the Pogrant home in Eland on October 10 uncovered the straight jacket and restraints. When asked by officers why she didn’t intervene in her son’s abuse, the mother said quote, “I don’t know”.
