On Friday, October 1 2019, the Waupaca County Sheriffs Office Communications Center
was notified of a vehicle travelling westbound in the eastbound lane on US Highway 10 near
Highway 49 in the Town of Fremont. The wrong way driver passed a marked Waupaca Police
Department patrol vehicle. The vehicle failed to stop for the Waupaca Police Department patrol
vehicle that had emergency lights and siren activated. Waupaca County Sheriffs Office patrol
vehicles assisted with the vehicle pursuit. The vehicle eluding law enforcement was reported
stolen from the city of Oshkosh WI. During the pursuit, the stolen vehicle struck a Waupaca
County Sheriffs Office patrol vehicle causing minor damage.
The vehicle did stop after the tires were deflated by law enforcement and the male driver was
taken into custody for:
- Eluding
- Operating Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent
- Recklessly Endangering Safety
- Hit and Run Attended Vehicle
The Waupaca County Sheriffs Office was also assisted by the City of Waupaca Police
Departnient, City of Weyauwega Police Department, and Gold Cross Ambulance.
