Shawano Municipal Utilities will be celebrating Public Power Week October 6-12 along with more than 2000 other community owned, not for profit electric utilities that provide electricity. To help with the kick off S-M-U has launced a calendar art contest by inviting students 4K through 5 th grade to participate in showing off their talents in coloring pages that will be used in a SMU 2020 wall calendar. Each returning entry will receive a movie pass to the Shawano Cinema. 12 winning students one for each calendar month will have their artwork featured and receive $10 in chamber bucks and the grand prize winner will receive $25 in chamber bucks and have their name and artwork affixed on SMU’s bucket truck for one year. SMU powers 5500 customers in Shawano, Parts of Wescott, Belle Plaine and Waukechon Townships.
