The bat tested for rabies after a person and two dogs were exposed to the animal, tested positive for rabies according to the Menasha Health Department. The two dogs are being quarantined, and the dogs’ owner is undergoing rabies treatment. This is the first time in six years an animal in Menasha has tested positive for rabies, the health department said. About 20 wild animals are tested for rabies each year in the city. Most of the animals tested are bats. The health department provided a list of actions people can take to protect themselves, family members and pets from coming into contact with wild animals that could have rabies.
