The man charged in the stabbing of a Green Bay police dog is now competent to stand trial. Thirty-year-old Sai Vang appeared in Brown County court Tuesday and the findings of a competency exam allow the case to proceed. The court lifted Vang’s commitment to a mental health facility and he was taken into custody. His next hearing is next Wednesday (9/25). Vang is facing three charges in the near fatal stabbing of K-9 Pyro in April. Police were called to an apartment on a report that Vang threatened to kill his father. Pyro jumped on Vang and he stabbed the dog with a large boning-style knife. Pyro has since returned to full duty.
