Linda L. Grassman, age 72 of Shawano, passed away Tuesday evening, August 27, 2019, in Shawano with her family by her side.
Linda was born June 21, 1947 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, a daughter of the late Walter and Mabel (Haut) Leifer. She attended elementary school in Batavia, and graduated from Random Lake High School in 1965. Following high school, Linda worked at the Borden Cheese Factory in Plymouth. On October 21, 1972, she was united in marriage to Bruce Grassman in Plymouth. Following their marriage the couple lived in Plymouth Fond du Lac, and Rosendale. In December of 1984 the couple moved to Shawano where they purchased the radio stations, WTCH and WOWN/ Results Broadcasting. Linda worked with her husband at the radio stations. For many years she was the bookkeeper and receptionist until retiring in 2005. She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Linda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 47 years, Bruce Grassman of Shawano; five children, Trisha (Dan) Peterson of Niagara, WI, Timothy (Leila) Grassman of Humble, TX, Donald (Kari) Grassman of Shawano, Dawn (John) Novitski of Pella, WI, and David (Katrina) Grassman of Dacula, GA; and 13 grandchildren, Elliot, Jason, Ryan, Kelsie, Michael, Peter, Allison, Walker, Piper, Emma, Cole, Ava, and Lincoln. She is further survived by five sisters, Marge Doherty of West Bend, June Pick of Plymouth, Betty Klein of Athelstan, WI, Donna Pfrang of Plymouth, and Lucy (Ray) Miske of Adell; brother-in-law, Mark (Sharon) Grassman of Coon Rapids, MN; and many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Donald Leifer; her father and mother-in-law, Donald and Anne Grassman; and her brothers-in-law, Patrick Doherty, Warren Klein, Arnold Pick, and Jay Pfrang.
A memorial service for Linda will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Fr. Scott Valentyn will officiate. Inurnment will be at the Sacred Heart Mausoleum in Shawano. Visitation will begin at 9:00 at the funeral home and continue until the hour of service.
In lieu of flowers and plants, the family requests memorials be made in Linda’s name to the Red River Riders Therapeutic Horseback Riding.
