On Tuesday morning the Clintonville Police Department investigated the reported sighting of a cougar on North 12th Street. A citizen called and reported seeing a cougar in his front yard and emailed a picture he had taken to the police department. Officers forwarded the information to the DNR. The picture received by Clintonville Police was a duplicate of a photo the DNR already had from a recent report in another jurisdiction in northern Wisconsin. During the investigation in Clintonville it was determined the individual did not see a cougar and had received the photo from another individual and then falsely reported the information. The Clintonville Police Department wants citizens to know there has not been a cougar sighting in our city and there should be no concerns.
