(Poygan, WI) — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office is identifying the husband and wife from Oshkosh who fell into a quarry Monday in the Town of Poygan. Deputies say 31-year-old Alissa A. Bartels died in the 40- to 50-foot fall. Thirty-one-year-old Lucas Bartels was injured and airlifted to a hospital, but his condition is unknown. The couple was visiting a business on County Road D near the quarry and a friend found them at the bottom of the quarry. People in the area tried to help the injured couple. Investigators believe the Bartels were not familiar with the terrain.
