Lincoln County first responders were able to use G-P-S technology to find a man who called 9-1-1 Sunday morning saying he was pinned under his canoe. The call came in shortly before 8:30 A-M with the Tomahawk man saying he was trapped on Menard Island on the Wisconsin River. Rescue personnel traveled five miles upstream from the nearest launching point to find the victim, taking an hour to get there and 20 minutes to get him free. The 34-year-old was treated for minor injuries at Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk.
