Wisconsin’s attorney general is advocating for universal background checks and a “red flag” law after mass shootings in El Paso and Dayton. The red flag law would let a family member or a law enforcement officer petition the court to stop someone who is mentally ill from possessing a firearm. Democrat Josh Kaul wants the Wisconsin Legislature to pass more gun control measures and he’d like to see a public debate. Kaul says he agrees with the Donald Trump after the president called for bipartisan action to stop mass shootings Monday morning.
