The Marion Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to Wisconsin Statute 301.45 (Act 440) and 301.46(2)(e) (Act 5), which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a juvenile sex offender’s release when, at the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety and protection.
The individual that appears on this notification has been adjudicated as a juvenile of multiple sex offenses involving children. His previous history places him in a classification level which reflects the potential to re-offend.
The sex offender has served the sentence imposed on him by the courts. This person is not wanted by police. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.
Sex offenders have always lived in our communities, but it was not until the passage of Act 440 (which mandates sex offender registration) that law enforcement even knew where they were living. In many cases, law enforcement is now able to share that information with you. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.
The Marion Police Department is available to assist and provide you with useful information on personal safety. The Marion Police Department can be reached at 715-754-5060.
