Shawano,WI,7/6/19—Jeffery Teske has roots at the Shawano Speedway going back to his grandfather
Jeff Teske, a multi time feature winner in the IMCA Modified class in the early 1990s, but now only eight
races into his rookie campaign in the IMCA Sport Mod division Jeffery has notched his name in the
Shawano Speedway record books after recording his first career feature win. Other winners on the
night included Nick Anvelink, (fifth Late Model feature of the year), Marcus Yarie, (second IMCA
Modified feature), Travis VanStraten, (second IMCA Stock car feature win), and Brad Wedde, (first
Mighty Four feature win of the season).
Derek Janke led lap 1 of the Late Model feature before giving way to Troy Springborn and Nick Anvelink
on lap 2. Springborn and Anvelink then began a high-speed battle of cat and mouse as they fought for
the lead. Each driver tried low and high searching for the fastest way around the track. Finally, on lap 9
Anvelink took the lead. As Anvelink held the lead, Ron Berna began to track down Springborn. On lap
18 Berna pulled even with Springborn. Anvelink would win it as Berna passed Springborn on the final
lap. Janke finished fourth. Tom Naeyaert crossed the line in fifth.
The IMCA Modified feature saw Chucky Forstner take the lead on the opening lap. On lap 4 Konnor
Wilinski caught Forstner. The duo went side by side on lap 6 with Wilinski leading the lap. Marcus Yarie
soon pressured Wilinski for the top spot. On lap 9 Yarie pulled even with Wilinski, but Wilinski held the
lead yet. On lap 11 Yarie again pulled alongside Wilinski and this time would not be denied. Jerry
Wilinski now moved to second. Yarie would go on to the win followed by Jerry Wilinski, fifteenth place
starting Jason Czarapata, Joey Taycher, and Wyatt Block.
Cody Scray jumped into the lead at the start of the IMCA Stock Car feature before brothers Nate and
Dan Michonski soon joined him at the front of the field. Nate Michonski went to the outside of Scray on
lap 3 to take the lead. Dan moved to second the following lap. With Nate leading the race working the
high groove, Dan got his nose to the inside Nate on multiple occasions but could not muster a pass for
the lead. As the Michonskis paced the field, Travis VanStraten moved to third in the race. On lap 16
Nate and Dan went door to door for the lead as VanStraten began working the low line of the track. On
lap 17 VanStraten got the run he needed to pass Nate and Dan for the lead. VanStraten held on for the
win followed by Dan Michonski, Nate Michonski, Asa Doxtator, and Bert Moede Jr.
Rookie Dylan Waldvogel led the early stages of the IMCA Sport Mod feature as Jeffery Teske chased him
in second. Teske got underneath Waldvogel on lap 6 to snag the top spot. Though only in his rookie
year in an IMCA Sport Mod, Teske looked like a seasoned veteran as he pulled away from the field down
the stretch. Point leader Jordan Bartz got to second, but she could not catch Teske. Teske cruised to the
win followed by Bartz, seventeenth place starting Bryce Clements, Matthew Radtke, and Kevin Bethke.
Brad Wedde went wire to wire to win the Mighty Four feature. Wedde was followed to the finish by
Jason Cornelius, Tanner Westphal, Brad Nelson, and Lucas Hacker.
Landon Braatz and Paul Elertson scored wins in Spectator Eliminator action.
Racing continues next Saturday with a 6:00 start time. It is Halloween at the Half Mile with trick or
