Senior living centers in Wisconsin’s Northwoods area are struggling to find employees. One social worker says the elderly make up about 40 percent of the people living in Vilas County. Nursing home operations often can’t match the wages paid by businesses like Kwik Trip or McDonald’s. In other cases, employees often sign up for training, then quickly leave when they have the knowledge they need to get the same job at a higher rate of pay in a larger city.
