Improvements on WIS 156, from the Shawano County line to WIS 22 in Clintonville, are scheduled to begin on Monday, June 10, 2019 at 8 a.m.
Northeast Asphalt, Inc. is the prime contractor for the $2,564,886 project. Crews will upgrade the deteriorated pavement on WIS 156 from WIS 22 to the Shawano County line. Work includes asphalt resurfacing, repainting of the bridges over the Embarrass River and the Wolf River, upgrades to storm sewer and culvert pipes, concrete surface drains, sidewalk, guardrail, signing and pavement marking.
During construction: WIS 156 will remain open to a minimum of one lane of traffic at all times. Temporary traffic signals will be used on the bridges over the Embarrass River and Wolf River from approximately June 10, 2019 to August 29, 2019. All other work will be conducted under lane closures with flagging operations.
Construction is scheduled for completion by September 2019. The schedule is dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
Federal transportation funds will pay for 80 percent of the improvements; state transportation funds will pay for the remaining 20 percent.
