
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) provides weekly road construction updates for counties in North Central Wisconsin: Adams, Green Lake, Florence, Forest, Iron, Langlade, Lincoln, Marathon, Marquette, Menominee, Oneida, Portage, Price, Shawano, Vilas, Waupaca, Waushara, and Wood. Construction schedules are dependent on favorable weather conditions and construction progress.
Marathon County
Highway: County WW (Local Project)
Location: Wisconsin River Bridge, Brokaw (Village of Maine)
Schedule: April 22, 2019 to May 22, 2020
Traffic impacts: Traffic is currently maintained on a single lane, 10.5 feet in width, on the existing bridge with temporary traffic signals. Half of the bridge deck will be removed and constructed.
Anticipated work schedule for next week: Contractors will continue to prepare bridge for upcoming concrete pouring.
Oneida County
Highway: US 51
Location: Between Minocqua Bridge to Lakeshore Drive in Downtown Minocqua
Schedule: May 6, 2019 to June 13, 2019
Traffic impacts: All lanes, sidewalks, and parking lanes will be open for Memorial Day Weekend. Lane closures will return on May 28. Motorists can expect to encounter one lane traffic on US 51 northbound and southbound between Minocqua Bridge and Lakeshore Drive. Parking will be limited to one side. Motorists may experience poor visibility at various times throughout the day. Expect travel delays. Pedestrians should anticipate sidewalk closures and alternate routes.
Anticipated work schedule for next week: Concrete pavement repairs begin in the US 51 northbound, outside lane on May 28.
Oneida & Vilas Counties
Highway: US 51
Location: 3rd Avenue to Tuckaway Drive
Schedule: Spring 2018 to November 2019
Traffic impacts: Motorists are encouraged to consider using WIS 47 as an alternate route to avoid delays at peak tourist travel times. US 51 will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction between WIS 47 and Trapp Road. Traffic on US 51 will be restricted to a 12-foot maximum width. Motorists should expect to encounter occasional flagging operations.
Anticipated work schedule for next week: Crews will complete installation of the new storm sewer, complete cutting the new subgrade and placing base aggregate.

Portage County
Highway: Business 51
Location: Mac Arthur Way – Minnesota Avenue
Schedule: March 18, 2019 to Spring 2020
Traffic impacts: A full list of impacts is available at the website below.
Anticipated work schedule for next week: Crews will complete new pavement from the bridge over McDill pond to Minnesota avenue, begin pouring concrete for Elm, Willow and Cedar intersections on east side of Business 51, continue sanitary and water installation on Tommy’s Turnpike and will begin shaping and placing base course on McDill Avenue.

Waupaca County
Highway: WIS 22 Bridges
Location: Wautoma – Clintonville, at bridges over:
(1) South Branch of the Little Wolf River
(2) Crystal River and
(3) Wisconsin Central Ltd. (CN) RR tracks
Schedule: May 14th, 2019 to August 2nd, 2019
Traffic impacts: Northbound lane closures on all three bridges. WIS 22 will remain open to traffic in both directions. Traffic will be controlled with flaggers and temporary traffic signals.
Anticipated work schedule for next week: Continue deck preparation work on bridge one and two, perform concrete surface repairs at all three bridges, form up, set, and pour concrete for the new expansion joints at the bridge three, clean bridge decks and parapets, and prepare to pour concrete for the new deck overlays.
Highway: WIS 156
Location: WIS 22 to Shawano County Line
Schedule: April 29, 2019 – September 2019
Traffic impacts: Silt fence was installed on May 15. When construction begins on or about June 10, WIS 156 will remain open to a minimum of one lane. Temporary traffic signals will be used on the bridge over the Embarrass River and the bridge over the Wolf River. All other work will be conducted under lane closures with flagging operations.
Anticipated work schedule for next week: None until construction begins on June 10.
