The Wisconsin DOT Northeast Region is enacting measures to improve safety on WIS 15 from US 45 to Lilly of the Valley Drive in the village of Hortonville. The new initiatives will improve safety for local and through traffic.
The number of traffic deaths on State 15 between Hortonia and Grand Chute increased by two this month to 16 total since bypass planning began in 2001. The D.O.T. has now announced plans to make that 11 mile stretch of the highway safer until the state gets moving with plans for a bypass
Matk Kantola with the D.O.T. says law enforcement will also be cracking down on speeders and reckless drivers
Planned improvements include:
- Increasing law enforcement patrols on WIS 15 beginning Monday, May 20
- Deploying speed trailers on WIS 15
- Refreshing pavement markings
Assessing signing and traffic signal timing along the corridor
