It’s being called one of the biggest drug busts ever in the city of Shawano. A 2 year investigation has resulted in the arrest of seven people, who’s leader allegedly was taking home as much as 4,000-5,000 dollars a week from drug deals in the area. A preliminary hearing took place Tuesday for the alleged kingpin in the conspiracy, Jaral R. McCollum, 39, of Shawano. He’s facing 15 felony counts. McCollum, who is being held on a $75,000 cash bond, waived his preliminary hearing and is scheduled for arraignment on May 13. Chief Dan Mauel says the bust was part of a cooperative effort between Shawano Police, the Shawano County Sheriff’s department, and the State Department of Justice Criminal Investigation Unit. Some of drugs involved include heroin, meth, Fentanyl, synthetic marijuana and Ecstasy pills.
