Authorities in Manitowoc County accuse a 34-year-old De Pere man of hanging a dog until it died. James J. Faulds made an initial appearance in Manitowoc County Circuit Court Monday. If he is convicted on one felony charge of mistreatment of animals, Faulds could receive a sentence of up to three-and-a-half years in prison. He told investigators the pit bull named Beef was acting aggressively toward his mother. A preliminary hearing for Faulds is set for May 1st.
