A fundraising effort to repair Green Bay’s 9/11 memorial failed and the city is in the process of tearing it down. Mayor Jim Schmitt has said the crumbling memorial wasn’t respectful to the victims of the terrorism attacks. It had been donated to Green Bay 14 years ago and it featured a piece of steel from New York’s World Trade Center.
