
Join the Boys and Girls Club of Shawano in celebration of the 2019 National Boys and Girls Club Week, April 8th-April 12th. Each day the Club will highlight the importance of standing up for Shawano youth with activities and events for Club members, their families and the community to enjoy.
On Monday, April 8th, join us in Standing Up to Celebrate our Shawano youth and the bright futures they each have. On Tuesday, Club members will Stand Up Against Bullying by participating in the BGCA Be A Star anti-bullying curriculum. Wednesday, April 10th Club members will Stand Up for Healthy Lifestyles with the BE GREAT Wellness Walk. The wellness walk is a family friendly event, promoting healthy choices, overall wellness, and physical fitness. The walk will be from 4:30-5:45pm on Wednesday, April 10th in the Olga Brener gym. This event is open to all past and current Club members and their families. Please RSVP by April 9th by calling (715) 851-6171.
Thursday, April 11th Club will be Standing Up for the Future! Parents and guardians of current Club members are encouraged to attend the Family Math night on Thursday, April 11th from 4:30-5:30pm. This event will highlight the reason and benefits of why math has changed and provide resources and tips for parents to assist child with math work. We end the week with a celebration on Friday, April 12th to Stand Up for All Youth.
Stand up for Shawano youth by supporting the Boys and Girls Club of Shawano during National Boys and Girls Club week. Tuesday, April 9th is the Boys and Girls Club of Shawano’s annual spring fundraiser, Purses for a Purpose. Purses for a Purpose is a live and silent auction of new and used high-end purses. The fundraising effort takes place at The Main Event in Cecil. Doors open at 5pm. Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at www.bgcshawano.org.
The Boys and Girls Club of Shawano opened in January of 2017 as a charter of the Boys and Girls Club of Green Bay. The Shawano Club is entirely funded by grants and donations, all money stays local to support the Shawano youth. They currently provide after school care to 60 students at the site-based Club inside Olga Brener Intermediate School. The non-profit organization seeks to enable Shawano youth to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens. Club members participate in programs focused on the arts, health and life skills, physical recreation, character and leadership, and education and career development.
