Last year volunteers assisted more than 70,000 families in Wisconsin
The Wisconsin Department of Revenue reminds you that free tax help is available to individuals with low to moderate income, seniors, members of the military and people with disabilities. There are more than 200 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) sites across Wisconsin that offer free income tax filing assistance. “Sites are staffed with trained volunteers that are ready to help prepare and file your tax return,” notes Department of Revenue Secretary Peter Barca. “Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to visit one of our sites. It was a real pleasure to meet some of the volunteers and see first-hand the excellent service they provide to Wisconsin taxpayers.” To find free tax assistance sites in your area, call the DOR at 608.266.2486, or dial 2-1-1 to reach the United Way.
