Wednesday’s Powerball drawing will feature an estimated jackpot of $381 million, the highest of 2019. The March 6 drawing also marks the largest jackpot since $750 million last October. The most recent Powerball jackpot win came Dec. 26 when the $294 million prize was won on a ticket purchased in New York state. Wisconsin has twice won Powerball’s largest prize, in 2006 and 2017. The last win came in March 2017 when a Milwaukee resident hit the $156.2 jackpot on a ticket purchased in Pewaukee. In addition to its jackpot, Powerball features prizing ranging from four dollars to $1 million. Each ticket costs two dollars and must be purchased by 9 p.m. CT on Wednesday and Saturday to be included in that night’s drawing. Players can choose five different numbers 1 to 69 and one Powerball number 1 to 26. Those purchasing tickets are advised to sign them and check numbers as soon as possible to avoid missing out on any potential prize. For an extra dollar per play, the selection of a Power Play can increase non-jackpot winnings by having them multiplied by the drawing’s Power Play number. For example, a $50,000 prize and a Power Play number of 5 results in a $250,000 win by adding Power Play. The $1 million prize automatically becomes $2 million with Power Play. The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1:292.2 million.
