Jeffrey Buttles of Manawa has pled not guilty to felony animal mistreatment after officials allege he shot and killed a dog that was on his property, then buried its body in a nearby river. A status hearing is set for April 5th. The case involves another Manawa man who’s dog went missing. Justin Beese let two of his dogs out of his home and 15 minutes later only one of them came back. The police interviewed a suspect who claims to have shot the dog, before dropping the dog’s body in a river about 20 minutes away.
