An Appleton mother is scheduled to return to Outagamie County Circuit Court in April for sentencing on a charge of child neglect causing death. Thirty-eight-year-old Nicole L. Gussert entered a no-contest plea last week. When officers were called to her home in May 2017 they found Gussert’s 13-year-old disabled daughter dead. The girl weighed 32 pounds. An autopsy found no traumatic injuries to her body, but the mother was accused of failing to check on the girl’s physical condition.
