The Shawano Skate Park will see some new additions to the area. The Shawano Common Council approved the addition of several new elements at the Skate Park, none of which will require taxpayer money. The money will come from the park and recreation department’s skateboard park fund, which has a balance of $17,607, all of which was obtained via grants or donations. The park was opened in 2008 at a cost of about $35,000, most of which came from grants and donations from groups that held fundraisers. The skate park was intended to be built in phases, with the existing park still at Phase One.
