A new monument paid for by a local veterans group will be added to the Veterans Memorial at Woodlawn Cemetery, marking the final piece of a project that has been ongoing for several years. The local AmVets organization has provided a $10,000 denotation for the sole purpose of adding a bronze fallen soldier monument to the cemetery’s memorial. The memorial currently features flags and engraved benches honoring each branch of the services, as well as a stone marker honoring veterans of all wars. The AmVets addition will be comprised of three pieces, including the main bronze fallen soldier monument at a cost of $4,995, the granite base it will stand on at a cost of $4,695 and a bronze plaque at a cost of $480.
