It has been gone for more than 50 years. But Oconto Beer might make a brief comeback this year as part of the Oconto sesquicentennial. All they need is a brewery to help create the old time flavor. The Oconto County Historical Society is hoping to have an Oconto-labeled brew in time for the big events this year, such as Copperfest. The logo is seen on signs a few taverns around the city and has been reproduced on shirts and other items at Image Apparel and Vital Signs in Oconto for several years. The Oconto Brewery opened in 1857, producing a wide variety of beers. The Oconto Brewing Co. hung on for a while, thanks in part to its own history of marketing. The company also brewed brands for others, but eventually was shut down in 1967.
