Phyllis was born on August 22, 1924, in Gresham, WI the only child of Ed and Frieda (Hohn) Peters. On December 12, 1942, she was united in marriage to LaVern “Bud” Ziemer at Elias Lutheran Church in the Town of Herman. LaVern preceded her in death on November 12, 2011. The couple raised two children. While Bud served in the U.S. Army at Camp Joseph Robinson, Phyllis worked in Little Rock, Arkansas. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Gehr in Shawano, then at Super Valu for 21 years. She and her husband enjoyed camping, traveling throughout all 50 states and Canada, and bible classes lead by Pastor Raddatz.
Phyllis is a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Shawano. Her faith in God’s plans for her life never wavered. Everyone who knew her loved her. She was a good listener, never complained, and touched the hearts of many with her beautiful smile. Phyllis enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, watching the Packers, and reading newspapers, books, and Portals of Prayer.
Survivors include her children, Michael (Pam) Ziemer of Rothschild, WI, and Karen (Lanny) Peissig of Roseville, MN; four grandchildren, David (Colleen) Ziemer and Barbara (Jerry) Sutter, and children Hunter and Delaney of Weston, WI, Tami (Colin) Peissig-Farr of Lynnwood, WA, and Pam (Chuck) Cartony and children Grady and Gavin of New Brighton, MN; step-grandson, Paul (Jamie) Rye and children Kaleb Brehm, Maddox, Camdyn, and Callen Rye of Wausau, WI.
A memorial service for Phyllis D. Ziemer will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mickelson Funeral Service in Shawano. Pastor Ron Raddatz will officiate. Visitation will begin at the funeral home at 10:00 AM and continue until the hour of service. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery in Shawano. In lieu of flowers and plants, donations may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 435 Fairview Way, Shawano, WI 54166, or the charity of your choice.
