Brian D. “Smilie” Miller, age 57 of Gresham, passed away on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 in Hillsboro, WI. Brian was born on October 15, 1961 in Milwaukee, the son of Robert and Yvonne (Ringel) Miller. Smilie graduated from Gresham High School. He served in the United States Coast Guard. On October 13, 1984, he was united in marriage to Theresa Perry in Gresham. Known as the “Sun Drop Guy”, Smilie worked for Twigs Beverage for many years, was a cook at the Bad Habit, and later worked for Reinhart’s. He enjoyed having a good time, so next time you have a drink, raise your glass and prost. Brian enjoyed gardening, cooking, watching the Packers and Brewers, and a good joke—but really mostly bad ones. He played softball in his younger years and was a member of a bowling league. Brian’s biggest blessing was his grandchildren; they were his life.
Brian is survived by: his wife, Theresa; children, Devon (Gretchen) and Kierston; four grandchildren, Kaidyen, Kailyanna, Jack and Deklyn; his parents, Robert and Yvonne Miller; three sisters, Pam, Trish and Renee. He is further survived by: his mother-in-law, Helen Perry of Gresham; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Angie (Mike) Krueger, Henry (Windy) Perry, DeeDee (Jim) Ludvigsen and RJ (Wendy) Perry; as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Roger Perry.
Funeral services for Smilie will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Gresham with Mr. Lloyd Bucholtz officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the service. The Mohican Veterans and the Gresham American Legion will do the final salute.
