The Oconto-Marinette County Farm Service Agency is co-hosting the second annual Queen Bee Event on Thursday, Aug. 9, at Windswept Acres Specialty Cut Flowers in Cecil. The free event, which will include a light meal, runs from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is open to women landowners and women farmers (current or future). The theme of this year’s workshop is “Legacy and Transition of the Land.”
The evening will begin with a question-and-answer learning circle led by resource professionals from the Farm Service Agency, UW-Extension, Pheasants Forever, Peshtigo National Bank, the Department of Natural Resources, and Natural Resources Conservation Service. To close the night, there will be a guided informational tour of Windswept Acres Specialty Cut Flowers, including greenhouses, pollinator habitat and wildlife pond. The tour of the property lasts approximately an hour on uneven terrain, so please dress accordingly.
Space is limited for this free event, and registration will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis.
