Significant alfalfa winter kill across the region has put many farms in a bind this summer when it comes to forage stocks. To answer your fall forage establishment questions the Shawano County Forage Council is hosting a workshop on July 19th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Green Valley Community Center. Local extension agents will explore forage options after wheat, best management strategies for fall alfalfa establishment, fertilizer consideration for fall forages and new seeding along with preparing for corn silage harvest. The workshop is free and they will provide a light lunch. RSVP with UW-Extension at 715-526-6136.
