New London schools are ready to increase its security presence around schools. The New London school board approved to committing $15,000 to fund a salary of one new part-time school resource officer and the police department will fund any remaining salary for officers and to hire a second resource officer. Officers are expected to be placed in the elementary and middle schools for the upcoming school year. This will allow the only current SRO time to focus on the high school instead of being stretched out across all schools. Search for the new school resource officers will begin as soon as possible to be filled before August.
