Judging of student entries has been completed in the 2018 Shawano Area Writers George Putz Memorial Student Writing Contest. Three independent judges evaluated more than 120 entries in the categories of fiction, poetry, and non-fiction submitted by Shawano and Menominee county students. Writers competed against others in grades 1-4, 5-8, and 9-12. The list of winners has been published on the Shawano Area Writers website at www.shawanoareawriters.org The winning students will be honored on Saturday, April 28th, during the awards ceremony at the Mielke Arts Center in Shawano. The program begins at 9:30 a.m. and features a keynote address by author Marshall J. Cook. The event is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend and help recognize the area’s young writers.
